Indian Engineering Services (UPSC IES)

Eligibility for UPSC IES:

Age: Minimum 21and maximum 30 years as on 1st August of the year of exam. For relexation in age Refer to UPSC Official Website.

Nationality: same as eligibility for Civil Services Examination.

Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the prescribed physical standards by UPSC.

Educational Qualification for UPSC IES:

  • A candidate must hold a engineering degree of any of the Universities recorginized by Govt. of India.

OR

  • passed section A and B of the Institution Examination of the Institution of Engineers (India)

OR

  • passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India)

OR

  • passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/ Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India

OR

  • obtained a degree/ diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/ Institution and under such conditions as may be recognised by the Government for the purpose from time to time.

OR

  • passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November 1959.

OR

  • candidate for the post of Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts) and Engineer, Gr. ‘A’ in Wireless Planning and Coordination Wing/Monitoring Organisation may posses any of the above qualifications or M.Sc degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.

UPSC IES Examination Fees:

Fee: Rs. 100.00 (Rupees One hundred only) through a single Central Recruitment Fee stamp of the requisite denomination. Fee exemption to SC/ST, Physically handicapped go to UPSC Website.

Exam Pattern of UPSC IES:

  • Paper I: Objective Paper
  • Paper II: Conventional Paper

Examination Centre:Both Paper I and Paper II cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering disciplines.

Interview:

The candidate will be interviewed by a Board who will judge the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in public service. The test is intended to judge the mental calibre of a candidate. This will carry 200 marks.
