UPSC Exams



Eligibility for UPSC NDA:

Unmarried male candidates age between 16.5 to 19 years. Candidates must undertake not to get married until they complete their full training.

Nationality: Same as eligibility for UPSC CDSE.

Physical Standards: The Candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/disability which is likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties.

There should be no evidence of week constitution, bodily defects or underweight.

The minimum acceptable height is 157.5 cms. (162.5 cms. For Air Force) for Gorkhas and individuals from hills of North Eastern regions of India, Garhwal and Kumaon, the minimum acceptable height is 5 cms. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cms.

Educational Qualification for UPSC NDA:

For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy: 12th Class of the 10 +2 pattern of school Education or equivalent with Physics & Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

For Army Wing at National Defence Academy: 12th Class pass of the 10 + 2 pattern of school education or equivalent exam. Conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Exam Pattern for UPSC NDA:

Mathematics (Class XI & XII syllabus): 300 marks / 150 minutes
Includes questions mainly from Arithmetic, Mensuration, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Statistics

General Ability Test: 600 marks / 150 minutes
Part A: English
Part B : General Knowledge includes questions from Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Freedom Movement, Geography, Current Affairs

Interview for UPSC NDA:

In addition to the Interview, the candidates are put to Intelligence Test both verbal and non-verbal designed to assess their basic intelligence. They will also be put to Group Test, such as group discussions, group planning, out door group tasks and asked to give brief lectures on specified subjects. All these tests are intended to judge the mental calibre of a candidate. In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only his intellectual qualities but also his social traits and interest in current affairs. This carries 900 marks.

Job Placement:

Selected candidates will placed in one of the following offices/organization.

  • Junior Scale Posts in Central Health Services
  • Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railways
  • Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in Indian Ordnance Factories Health Service
  • Medical Officers in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi

How to Apply for UPSC NDA:

Fee: Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only). (No fee for SCs/STs/ Physically Handicapped).

Completed application must be sent to the Secretary, UPSC, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi 110069 till October month.
