SSC Stenographer Exam

SSC Stenographer (Grade C & Grade D):

Eligibility for SSC Stenographer:

  • Nationality:Applying candidate must be citizen of India / Nepal / Bhutan.
  • Age: Applying candidate must be aged between 18-27 years. Age on Matriculation certificate will be considered as proof of Age.
  • Education: 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognised Board or University.

Selection Process for SSC Stenographer:

The of the Examination is conducted by SSC for the post Stenographer:

  • Written) Examination (Objective Type)
  • Skill Test (Stenography Test)

SSC Written Exam Pattern (120 minutes):

Exam pattern: There will be negative marking. For each correct answer one mark will be added and for each incorrect answer 0.25 mark will be deduct.

SSC Stenographer Written Test Syllabus:

General Intelligence & Reasoning: verbal and figure classification, verbal and non verbal analogy, visual memory, discriminating observation, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, arithmetical reasoning, decision making, relationship concepts, non-verbal series, arithmetical number series etc.

General Awareness: Questions relating to India and its neighboring countries on Sports, Indian Constitution, Culture, Geography, National Economy, General Polity, History and Scientific Research.

English Language & Comprehension: English Language, vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage etc.

Candidates who obtained qualifying marks in written exam will called for stenography test which is of qualifying in nature.

Stenography Test :

Candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’.

The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only:

  • Stenographer Grade ‘D’ : 50 minutes (English) 65 minutes (Hindi)
  • Stenographer Grade ‘C’:40 minutes (English) 55 Minutes (Hindi)

Grade C:

1. Armed Forces Headquarters
2. Indian Foreign Service
3. President’s Secretariat
4. Any Other Central Government Department

Grade D:

1. Armed Forces Headquarters
2. Railway Board Secretariat
3. Central Secretariat
4. Indian Foreign Service
5. Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs
6. Any Other Central Government Department

How to Apply for Stenographer:

Applications must be submitted only in the prescribed format with Application form and at SSC website.
