Railway Medical Common Recruitment Examination

Railway recruitment boards holds a common written exam to recruit candidates for various posts in Railway hospitals and departments.

How to Apply:

  • Online Application: Candidate can fill application form at concerned RRB website.
  • Offline Application: Candidates can print the application
    forms and information sheets along with annexure and use for sending
    applications to RRBs.
  • List of Zonal RRB consist all zonal RRB website, contact details and address for sending draft to RRB.

Education and age eligibility for all posts in railway Medical Hospitals

RRB Recruitment Process:

(i) Written Exam: There will be common written test by RRB.

  • Written test will include questions from: General awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and Reasoning and Technical Ability for the post
  • Negative marking: For each wrong answer 1/3 mark will be deduct.
  • Duration of the examination will be 90 minutes with
    approximately 100 questions.

(ii) Railway Medical Fitness test and document verification: Those who stand in merit will be called for Medical Fitness test and document verification process.

Medical Fitness criteria:

Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards – Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with
or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D). Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6
with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision.

Railway Medical Jobs Eligibility (Railway Medical Common Examination Eligibility):

There will be seperate eligibility criteria for each post:

1. Staff Nurse:

Age criteria: 20 to 40 years at 1 January of applying year.

Education: Certificate as registered Nurse and Midwife having passed 3 years course in General Nursing and Midwifery from School of Nursing OR Other Institutions recognised by Indian Nursing Council OR B.Sc (Nursing).

2. Health & Malaria Inspector:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: B.Sc Chemistry plus (a) 1 year Diploma in Health/ Sanitary Inspector (OR) (b) 1 year National Trade Certificate (NTC) in Health/ Sanitary Inspector awarded by National Council for Vocational Training, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

3. Pharmacist – III:

Age criteria: 20 to 35 years.

Education: (10+2) in Science or its equivalent, with 2 years Diploma in Pharmacy and registration with Pharmacy Council of India OR State Pharmacy Council. (Proof to be attached).

4. ECG Technician:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: Higher Secondary (10+2) from a recognized Board / University and one year certificate course in ECG Technician from recognized institution.

5. X Ray Tech/ Radiographer II:

Age criteria: 19 years to 33 years.

Education: 10+2 with Physics & Chemistry and Diploma in Radiography/ X Ray Technician / Radio Diognosis Technology (2 years course) from recognized institution. Science graduates with Diploma in Radiography / X Ray Technician / Radio Diagnosis Technology (2 years course) shall preferred.

6. Lab Assistant Gr. II:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: Matriculation with Science plus Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT) or Certificate Course in Medical Lab Technology Subject to the fulfillment of the underlying conditions:- (i) The course has been done from an institution which is recognized by a University or Technical Board of State Govt./ Central Govt. authority. (ii) The duration of the course is at least 1 year (iii) During the course the candidate should have done the training on full time basis. (iv) At the end of the course , there should be a system of examination which has been successfully passed by the candidate.

7. Lab Superintendent:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: B.Sc with Bio-Chemistry / Micro Biology/Life Science or equivalent plus Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT) or equivalent OR B.Sc in Medical Technology (Laboratory) from a recognized institution.

8. Dialysis Technician:

Age criteria: 20 to 33 years.

Education: B.Sc plus Diploma in Haemodialysis or two years satisfactory in-House Training/Experience in Haemodialysis work in a reputed institution (Proof to be attached).

9. Cardiology Technician:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: Higher Secondary (10+2) in Science and certificate course or Diploma in Cardiology Lab Investigations consisting of ECG, Holter & TMT. Candidate trained in Echocardiography is preferable

10. Audiometrician / Speech Therapist:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: (I) B.Sc and Diploma in Audio & Speech Theraphy (ii) 2 years experience in the related field.

11. Physiotherapist:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: 10+2 (with Science)Plus Diploma /Degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized University /Institution.

12. Extension Educator:

Age criteria: 22 to 35 years.

Education: Post Graduate in Sociology/ Social work/Community Education or allied subject with similar course contents or graduation in one of the above discipline with 2 year Diploma in Health Education in recognised University.

13. Field Worker:

Age criteria: 18 to 30 years.

Education: 10+2 in Science (with Chemistry & Biology

14. Lab Superintendent (Clinical Psychologist) in Medical Department:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: Master Degree in Clinical Psychology/Social Psychology from a recognized University.

15. Janitor in Medical Department:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: Bachelor Degree in Hospital/ Health Management from a recognized University and (ii) 2 yrs working experience in a Hospital of repute regarding the overall working maintenance and administration of the Hospital.

16. Receptionist in Medical Department:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: Bachelor Degree in Hospital/ Health Management from a recognized University and (ii) 2 year experience as a Receptionist in a Hospital of repute.

17. Dietician:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: Bsc (Science Graduate) with Post Graduate Diploma in Dietctics (one year course) from a recognized Institution plus three months internship training in a Hospital OR BSc Home Science + MSc Home Science (Food & Nutrician) from a recognized Institution.

18. Ophthalmic Technician / Optician:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: B.Sc in Optometry or Diploma in Ophthalmic Technician (the course should be of 3 to 4 years duration). The candidate should have Registration with the concerned Council/Licensing body.

19. Dental (Oral) Hygienist:

Age criteria: 18 to 33 years.

Education: (a) Degree in Science (Biology) from a recognized university OR equivalent and (b) Diploma/ Certificate Course(2 years) in Dental Hygiene from an institute recognized by Dental Council of India and (c) Registered with Dental Council of India as Dental Hygienist and (d) 2 years experience as Dental Hygienist.
