You may have also seen the below picture on social media claiming China creating super soldiers with tardigrade DNA.

Well, this news is not completely fake but it is over-exaggerated.
Academy of Military Medical Sciences in Beijing did inserted a specific gene from tardigrades (water bears) into human embryonic stem cells using CRISPR in 2023.
In this experiment human cells in the lab actually became significantly more resistant to X-ray radiation. They didn’t just survive; they continued to function and divide normally.
But nothing reported after that, the original article was by South China Morning Post after that social media started flooding with these kind of images, specially instagram and facebook.
If we look at the brighter side of this experiment then we can say that it may help cancer radiation therapy or may be for creating more resilient crops for harsh environments.
But the Chinese super soldiers thing is not real.
