What is Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test?

School Education Government of Punjab conducts Punjab State TET for the recruitment of candidate for the post of teacher for class I to class VIII. Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test or PSTET is essential qualification exam a candidate need to pass to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in schools.

Punjab TET Eligibility:

For Class 1 to Class 5 teacher (Paper – I):

  • Intermediate (10 + 2) with at least 50% marks with at least 50% marks in 4 year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B. El. Ed). Students who are in final year are also eligible.
  • Intermediate (10 + 2) with at least 50% marks and graduation or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education.

For Class 6 to Class 8 teacher (Paper – II):

  • Graduation with 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education. Students in final year are also eligible.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

Punjab STET Exam Pattern:

  • Exam Type: Objective
  • No Negative marking
  • Candidate need to secure at least 60% marks to qualify.

Paper I: For teaching class I to V

  • Child Development and Pedagogy (30 questions / 30 marks)
  • Language I (30 questions / 30 marks)
  • Language II (30 questions / 30 marks)
  • Mathematics (30 questions / 30 marks)
  • Environmental Studies (30 questions / 30 marks)

Paper II: For teaching class VI to VIII

  • Child Development and Pedagogy (30 questions / 30 marks)
  • Language I (30 questions / 30 marks)
  • Language II (30 questions / 30 marks)
  • Mathematics + Science / Social Science (60 questions / 60 marks)

Punjab STET Syllabus:

Paper I:

Child Development and Pedagogy: This section focus on psychology of teaching, interaction, attributes and learning relevant to age group of 6 to 11 years.

Language I: Questions from Language choose by Candidate.

Language II: Questions from Language choose by Candidate.

Mathematics: This section will test problem solving ability.

Environmental Studies: Questions will be asked on the syllabus of Class IV and V.
